Root Canal Treatment at St Marys Dental Surgery

Root canal treatment is required in a variety of situations where the nerve of a tooth has been compromised.

Tooth trauma and deep decay can cause the inner nerve of the tooth to die and become infected. In cases like this root canal may be suggested to save the tooth.

Root canal treatment normally takes a few appointments to go inside the tooth, remove the nerve, place an antibiotic dressing and finally fill the nerve chamber once the infection has cleared. This can normally be done in the clinic.

Sometimes, however, referral to an Endodontist may be advised if the nerve canals are not accessible.
